Drake House was constructed in the community of Haystack, Placentia Bay in the 1980s. Constructed by George Drake and his brother Frank, the house was passed on to George's son Frank who lived in the home his whole life. When Haystack was resettled in the 1960s, Frank Drake refused to move and remained in the house at Haystack for an additional 12 years. In the 1970s, the house was floated by barge from Haystack to its present site in Arnold's Cove. After Frank Drake's death in 2002, the property was acquired by the Town of Arnold's Cove which now uses the building to interpret the area's history as a community museum.Drake house is the oldest home in Arnold's Cove.
