Originally settled in 1816 by English seasonal fishermen, Cow Head represents the province’s nineteenth century seasonal fishery and the history of the French Shore. The museum is located in the home of the late Dr. Henry N. Payne. The Museum reflects the community’s rich cultural heritage through photograph’s and artifacts reflecting the fishery and domestic lifeways of Summerside and Winterside - two areas of Cow Head that were utilized during the summer and winter seasons by fishers and their families.
